...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 PM CDT THIS
EVENING FOR JASPER, NEWTON AND TYLER COUNTIES...

At 532 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy
rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have
fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour.
Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Jasper, Woodville, Newton, Kirbyville, Colmesneil, Chester, Town
  Bluff, Ebenezer, Fred, Call, Rockland, Warren, Burkeville, Bon
  Weir, Toledo Bend Dam, Browndell, Magnolia Springs, Mt. Union,
  Spurger and Roganville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Neches River at Neches River Saltwater Barrier.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 11.0 feet, Major flooding is occurring. River levels
  are near those reached during Tropical Storm Allison in 1989.
  Several streets in Northeast Beaumont are flooded and impassable
  and water is in homes near the river. Neighborhoods on the north
  side of Interstate 10 in Rose City are flooded with water in
  approximately 4 homes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 7:15 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 8.2 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 7:15 PM CDT Thursday was 8.2 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 10.9
    feet early Tuesday morning.
  - Flood stage is 4.0 feet.

  Neches River At Rockland affecting Tyler, Angelina, Jasper and
  Polk Counties.

For the Neches River...including Rockland...Moderate flooding is
forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive cars through flooded areas.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
